Hello,
I have been very busy at work and there was very little crochet time.
With the little crochet time , I have tried new colours, new pattern.
The pattern is called 'the bullseye square pattern' and can be found here. Such a lovely and easy pattern! I am planning to make a blanket for my sister's baby; she is due September and the black one will be a blanket for my Little Man's bed in granny's summer home.
Have a lovely day. Gaia.

Vintage Crochet
Hello!
I am very excited today. My aunt, who lives in England came to visit and look what she had!
Isn't is gorgeous?!
She said that she got the pattern from a magazine which she has been saving since the 1960's ( isn't it amazing!) and actually there was no written pattern but a photo so she waited almost 50 years to work this pattern out!( My aunt has a restaurant in London and she is an amazing cook.) Unfortunately, she didn't bother to write down the pattern but she taught me ,so hopefully soon enough, I will write it down and share it with you.
Have a lovely day. Gaia.

An Ordinary Day...
Hello,
Last week I had to run some errands and had to go to the old part of the city Nicosia. Since I went there, why to rush? I thought .Why not have a stroll around ?
And I took some photos ...
Lastly, fresh freesias from my vase; a present from a patient....

Spring is in the air!
Hello Dear Friends!
Although today is cloudy and gray , last week-end was not like that. The sun was shining and the breeze brought spring fragrances. My garden also convinced me that it is indeed spring.
My freesias are in full bloom...
And my Little Man was the one who enjoyed the sun the most.
While he played in the garden, I arranged my pots...
There was some week-end cooking too! I made cabbage leaf 'dolma' which is stuffed cabbage leaves. First I boiled the cabbage leaves .
Cabbage leaf dolma
Ingredients:
1 cabbage
1/2 kg lean ground beef
1/2 cup chopped parsley
1/3 cup chopped dill
1 medium sized onion chopped finely
1 can chopped tomato
1 tablespoon red pepper paste
salt and pepper
When I finished stuffing the leaves my pot looked like this:
I filled it with hot water just to cover the dolma and squeezed a lemon juice to prevent the stuffed leaves from opening. Then I put a plate on top and cooked about half an hour.
This dolma is perfect with fresh yoghurt. Bon appetit!

Sunburst Granny Square Baby Blanket Ta-dah!
Hello!
I am very excited today because today is 'Sunburst Granny Square BabyBlanket' Ta-dah day! A very nice tutorial of the pattern can be found here and here.I will stop talking now and leave you with the photos:
The yarn is Bravo bamboo.
I used 4mm hook but later I figured out that 3.5 mm hook worked better. Unfortunately most of the colours of this yarn have finished in our local yarnstores so either I will wait for autum- the new season for yarn-and see if they have it or I will have to search for the yarn in Turkey...
I hoe you have a lovely week-end. Gaia.

It's snowing in Cyprus!
Hello!
And Yes! it snowed yesterday afternoon in Nicosia, Cyprus. I remember snow in 1982 or 1983 and in 1992. Once in a decade!
I tried to photograph the snow; but this is the best I could do.....
Yesterday,I took the afternoon off from work, came home with magazines and yarn. I was planning to read a bit and then crochet a bit. This was how my cozy corner looked like:
I read all my favourite decoration and cooking magazines. Oh,my! I love spring issues! They are soooo full. It took me long time to read and digest what I read.
I just can't wait to bake the bread on the cover of this magazine. Looks so yummy!
And this is the place I hope to spend my summer holidays this year.
But the most enjoyable part is yet to come. Last week-end, as the weather was so good, I went to the town centre, to the old shopping place of Nicosia ,which is called Arasta. I was actually fishing for certain kind of yarn, instead I ended up with this yarn:
The moment I saw the yarn, immediately I fell in love with the bright colours. Unfortunately only few colours were left from the stock and I very much regret that I didn't get the pink and the purple. photokar27
It is %100 wool and the owner of the shop told us that the stock is VERY old and actually the factory which manufactured these yarns were long closed down. I felt like I was in a gold mine!!!!!!
After stroking and loving the lovely yarn,I have tried few granny squares with my new yarn .Above is one of the squares I did. I will try few more squares to find the perfect square to fit my lovely yarn and I will start my new project after I get the pink and the purple !
I hope you are all having a lovely day. Gaia.
