top-down cardigan ta-da!

Hello Dear Friends!
Yes,I did it! I have managed to knit a wearable top-down cardigan. Unfortunately my Little Man had an accident just after I finished it and put it on, so I am happy to finish it but not so happy because my Little Man got injured. A fishing hook came in his finger and we had to go to hospital to have it removed. He had a  tetanus injection too. He is well and enjoying playing with his toys now.

I wish you  happy holiday season. Gaia.
Note: The pattern for this cardigan can be found here.

I am knitting!

Hello Dear Friends,
I am just popping in to say that I am knitting....

When I  was browsing the  net ,I saw those lovely top-down cardigans and immediately fell in love with the design. That was three years ago when my son was born. Since then, I have tried and tried knitting one, and accomplished one that you can view it here. But it was nothing wearable. This time, I worked hard, I did rows and undid rows, I measured and calculated, most of the time I was near tearing but  hopefully I will end up with a top-down cardigan that will actually fit my son.Until then , I wish you all the best and hope to be back with a ta-daa post soon....Gaia.

Hello

Hello Dear Friends,
I have been away for a long time; I am ok but life got a bit hectic here, especially at work, so I had to work extra hours hence no time for crochet. It is not ' no crochet at all ' but I have no finished blankets or anything to show of my own. My lovely neighbour, though , managed to finish a granny ripple blanket. I am sorry for the quality of the photo but winter arrived in  Cyprus and because I am at work during daytime, I couldn't take a better one. So here it is:
The girl posing is my neighbour's daughter.The blanket is a Christmas present for my neighbour's niece, lovely Anastasia, who lives in Moldova.
 I wish for you and for my lovely neighbour who made this blanket, a Happy Christmas and New Year.

I am back

Hello,
It has been such a long  time since I last posted. All I am going to say is  that  I am not having the best of my times trying to juggle home,work and kids.( Not to mention the VERY hot weather conditions; 30 degrees C in October! ) I did manage to do a little crochet though. I sought comfort in the old crochet pattern; the ripple. So here it is;
I have only managed only 20 rows;
I am as well working on a Japanese flower scarf,
I have already finished my nephew's baby blanket but I did not have the time to block it yet so hopefully I will be back with a ta-dah post soon. Till then good-bye....Gaia.

this and that

Hello Dear Friends,
I can hardly believe that I was the person on this beach just a month ago. Total bliss! It seems to be ages ago.
What happened since then?
1- My best friend came from İzmir for a short holiday. After six years of not seeing each other , I felt so good being able to pick up from where we left. Of course , her daughters were not babies anymore and my son fell in love with his 'abla's ( abla= Turkish word for elder sisters)
2- Hubby came back home from an abroad trip with a broken leg!
3- My sister had a baby twenty days earlier than expected; I am an auntie now!!!
My Little Man is a bit jealous of the baby boy and doesn't want to see him at all. We are taking it slowly to give him time to adjust to the changes in his life because he started a new school just today after staying at home for ten days with me while switching schools.
4- There was very little time for crocheting.This is my current WIP
5-It is still very hot and humid. I wish it rained......
6- I am only able to write this post because my Little Man is sleeping but I need to go and prepare dinner now.
I hope you are having a lovely day wherever you are. Gaia...

WIP - BABY BLANKET PROGRESS

Hello Dear Friends!
 Wow! Time flies... It has been twenty days since I last posted and it seems only just like yesterday. I didn't do much while I was not blogging.I was, for sure , following my favourite blogs and I was crocheting a little working on my soon to be born nephew's blanket.
I have made thirty squares and joined them only to realise that it is too small to be even a baby blanket. Then I started to crochet twelve more squares and I am working on those squares at the moment.
I remembered one more thing ! I finished a baby top-down baby cardigan too.

I knitted this cardigan just to learn how to knit a top-down cardigan and it was too small for an actual baby but my best friend's eleven year old daughter welcomed it for her doll.
I'll go back to crocheting now. Have a lovely week-end. Gaia.

Baby colour palette

Hello Dear Friends!
At last,I have found what I will crochet with my new yarn: A blanket for my sister's baby. My sister is due September but I have a feeling that the baby will come early. And it's a boy!

The pattern is Priscilla Hewitt's ( I love her patterns! ) octagon medallion pillow-ghan square.

I showed my sister the squares I have made so far and her eyes sparkled! It is so enjoyable to crochet this pattern but it takes a little bit longer time than crocheting a regular granny square.
I cannot wait to see this baby blanket finished!
Have a lovely day! GAia.

NEW WIP- CROCHET SQUARE

Hello Dear Friends!
It has been long time since I have last posted but the weather in Cyprus is so hot ( reaching above 40 degrees C ) that it is almost impossible to crochet. Yesterday though, we had a shower for almost half an hour and the temperatures fell to around 25 degrees C; how nice it is to live in such a climate!
After searching and searching for a suitable pattern for a summer crochet project, I came across with this pattern. I have tried it with sifferent types of yarn and I finally reach a satisfying result with a microfibre yarn and 2,5 mm hook. So here it is;

Have a nice day! Gaia.

Blooming Flower Cushions Ta-da!

Hello Dear Friends,
Yes,you read it right! This time I have two blooming flower cushions, a pattern by attic24 .
The colourful one is a long time pending project, I crocheted the back and the front and tossed it away and forgot about it because I did not like the circle I crocheted for its back. Then yesterday I gave it a second thought and I gave it a try ; it is not perfect in shape but it turned out to be OK.

 I have made the pink one to match my 'Beautiful Blanket' .

Have a lovely week-end!
